Mornings and evenings we sit for two twenty-five minute periods with a few minutes of walking in between. On Wednesday morning and Thursday evening we do a short chanting liturgy after a slightly longer sitting period. When coming during the week, please arrive by five minutes before the hour. If this will be your first time attending, please arrange for beginner's instruction by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Saturdays we sit for three periods. Our teacher Barry gives a dharma talk during the second period and offers dokusan to anyone who would like to see him. We request that non-members offer a $10 donation for attendance at a Saturday dharma talk. At 12:05PM we hold a discussion group until 1:00PM. This year we are working through Keizan's Transmission of Light, any translation will do.
There are no closings currently scheduled.
Every month, usually on the first Saturday, we hold a day long sesshin from 9:00AM until 5:00PM. The day consists of zazen, chanting, yoga, a dharma talk, dokusan, and oryoki lunch. It's a wonderful way to deepen your practice.
Ordinary Mind has a study group on non-sesshin Saturdays from 12:00PM - 1:00PM. We discuss a number of different types of text. The dates, topics and materials for discussion can be found below.
