An important part of practice is encountering and enjoying different perspectives on the Dharma. This helps us both illuminate what we take for granted in the teaching and also gives us the opportunity to make some new friends along the way. To provide us an opportunity to do so, Ordinary Mind Zendo will organize periodic half day sits with guest teachers. Half day sits at Ordinary Mind begin at 10:00AM (please be settled on your cushion doing zazen by 9:55) and end at 1:15PM. It will consist of five periods of zazen with a talk from our guest teacher during one of the afternoon periods.

About Our Guest Teacher

Sensei Barbara Joshin O'Hara, MA, LCSW, a co-founder of Village Zendo, received Dharma Transmission from Roshi O’Hara in April, 2006. She began her formal training in 1986 with Roshi John Daido Loori, spending three years in monastic residency at Zen Mountain Monastery. Sensei Joshin is a psychoanalytically trained psychotherapist who also studied the Diamond Heart Work and believes there is no more important work than investigating what keeps us from being able to be fully present to our own experience. She maintains a private practice in the West Village.
